Cycling through some of the most beautiful and stunning places in China, you will have the chance to get familiar with the incredible richness of this country. On two wheels, we will travel from Beijing to the legendary Great Wall of China, and explore the unique Karst Rock formations around Guilin. At the end of our trip, we pay a visit to China’s “Gate to the West” – Shanghai.

Travel to Beijing
For participants from most places the journey will begin with an overnight flight to Beijing
Arrival in Beijing
From the Capital Airport, a transfer is organized to our Hotel which is located within the protected old town. After a short break for relaxation we go on a first stroll through the surrounding “Hutongs”, the traditional Beijing back-alleys.
Temple Of Heaven, Tian’anmen Square And Forbidden City
Having received and prepared our bicycles, we go on a first ride through the city to visit the Temple of Heaven, the old landmark of the capital and its surrounding park. In the afternoon we cross Tian’anmen Square, the world’s biggest inner city square, and take our time to explore some of the 9.999 rooms within the forbidden city.

Along Canals Towards The Ming Tombs
Cycling mainly on less trafficked back roads we leave Beijing to reach our Hotel at the Ming Tomb reservoir north of the city. On our way we visit the New Summer Palace and ride along typical canals and orchards.

On a relaxing day trip, we set out to explore the 13 tombs of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) emperors. We visit Changling, the restored tomb of the third emperor of the Ming and get a peek over the walls of some of the non-restored tombs in the area.

On The “Wild Wall”
Today, we cycle to Huanghua and check in to our Hotel around lunchtime. In the afternoon, we climb onto Great Wall. This section of the wall lies beautifully above a water reservoir and is still spared from mass tourism.

Overnight Train Ride to Guilin
On our way back to Beijing we stop by at the Bird's Nest, the impressive stadium designed by Swiss architects for the Olympic games in 2008. In the afternoon we board a comfortable overnight train to Guilin.
Arrival In Guilin
Around noon, we arrive in scenic Guilin which is located amidst a sea of bizarre karst rocks. In the afternoon explore some of Guilin’s beautiful gardens.
Along The Famous River Li
Today we hop on our bikes again. On a relaxing day trip, we cycle along River Li to Caoping. On our way we visit Daxu, a village boasting well-preserved buildings from the Ming and Qing dynasties. Our accommodation will be a resort hotel in Caoping.

Mountain And River
The landscape around Caoping and Yangshuo ranks among the most beautiful in the world. Surrounded by sugarloaf mountains we cycle through paddy fields and villages to Yangshuo. Two nights stay in a traditional style hotel.

Day Trip To Moon Hill
Cycling through fairytale landscapes we reach the Moon Hill around noon. After a climb to the top of this mountain we are rewarded with a stunning view over Karst Hills and Rivers.

Train Journey To Shanghai
In the morning a chartered bus brings us to Guilin Station where we board an express train to Shanghai. We reach our hotel – located close to the Bund, Shanghai’s famous river promenade – in the evening.
“City Above The Sea”
Today, we explore China’s “gate to the West” by foot. We go for a walk on the Bund, visit the pretty Yu Garden, and explore parts of the old town as well as Shanghai’s modern financial district on the east side of Huangpu River. From the observatory deck of one of Pudong’s giant skyscrapers we get a stunning view over the buzzing metropolis.
Free Time In Shanghai
The last day in Shanghai will be free for individual ventures. You can go for a stroll over Nanjing Lu, Shanghai’s famous shopping street or visit one of the city’s many museums. At our farewell dinner in the evening you will once more have the opportunity to experience the culinary richness of the Chinese cuisine.
